The pale red onion from Niort in France. Productive and rustic, Niort's pale red onion variety forms round, flattened, copper-red, soft-white, round bulbs. They can be eaten raw with salads or cooked in soup, along with many cooked dishes, in sauces. Niort's pale red onion is a broad, flat bulb, 8 to 10 cm, pale pink in color, slightly coppery and purplish on the inside. The skin of the bulbs is thin and keeps well in winter.
