A highly regarded heritage winter squash, Buttercup produces medium-sized, dark green fruits with a distinctive turban-shaped base and thick, bright orange flesh. Known for its exceptionally sweet, smooth and nutty flavour, it is often considered one of the best squashes for eating.

This variety combines good productivity with excellent keeping qualities.

Growing information

• Sow under cover in late spring or direct sow once frost risk has passed

Buttercup is superb roasted, baked, mashed or added to soups, offering a rich, sweet flavour and creamy texture.
