An early French heritage melon, Noire des Carmes produces medium-sized round fruits with dark green skin and sweet, fragrant orange flesh. Traditionally grown in monastery gardens, this variety is believed to have been cultivated by Carmelite monks in France as early as the 17th century.
Known for its reliability and relatively early ripening, it is particularly well suited to greenhouse growing and shorter summers.
